Meriportti Business Park

Meriportti Business Park
will be built in connection with the Vuosaari Harbour. The companies will not be directly involved with harbour activities although they will take advantage of the proximity of the harbour and seafaring. The Meriportti area spans approximately 25 hectares. It is bordered by a park and a boat harbour on the south, and by a golf course on the west. The area has excellent transport links: the harbour road and railway line connect the area to the main transport networks and the harbour next door.

Meriportti Business Park is only a kilometre from the Vuosaari underground station and the Columbus Shopping Centre. Central Helsinki is accessed by public transport or by using Vuotie, an extension of the ring road Kehä I. Vuosaari underground station has bus extension services to other parts of the area.

Businesses located in the area
Meriportti area's city plan allows for construction of a versatile business park. Two important players in the harbour and seafaring industry have already located themselves in the area: the Arctic Technology Centre and ABB Marine.

What's more, Gustav Paulig Ltd started construction of its new coffee roastery in autumn 2007. The new building will manage the reception and storage of raw coffee material, coffee processing, packaging, and the storage of finished products. It will also house the offices for the 200 plus staff of Gustav Paulig Ltd, Paulig Ltd and Santa Maria Finland Ltd.

Permitted building volume at the Meriportti Business Park totals 91,000 km2, half of which has already been allocated. The area will see a totally new infrastructure; the construction of new streets and municipal engineering has already begun.

The business park provides jobs
Meriportti area is going to be an important area in terms of employment. According to agreed relocation arrangements, the Meriportti Business Park will soon see around 500 new jobs, the Vuosaari Harbour will provide employment for 1,500 and the Harbour Business Park for 2,000 people.

The City of Helsinki Real Estate Department gives further information about the Meriportti Business Park and locating businesses there.
